Yuan Shu's "Tongjian Chronicles" in the Southern Song Dynasty takes the major historical events in "Zi Zhi Tongjian". Each event is divided into one article, with each title, recording the beginning and end of the event in detail, and arranging the historical events in chronological order. It is compiled into 239 main titles and 69 supplementary titles to facilitate readers to grasp historical events.
The main contents of "Tongjian Chronicles (Annotated Translation)" include:
(1) Content summary. Each article has a summary of content within a thousand words, providing a scientific and academically valuable overview and evaluation of the background, process, significance of historical events, and their impact on that time and later generations.
(2) Original text. Simplified Chinese is arranged horizontally, and the 1964 Zhonghua Book Company punctuation edition was used as the working base for correction. There are a total of more than 250 corrections in the book.
(3) Annotation. Detailed annotations are made for rare words, phonetic notations and interpretations, characters, events, officials, laws, anecdotes, etiquette, cultural knowledge, administrative divisions, ancient and modern geography, special terms, etc. That cannot be explained in the translation.
(4) Translation. Translate sentence by sentence according to the original text, making it accurate, popular and smooth.
(5) Insert more than 200 original historical diagrams based on the content.
