It's Perfectly Normal for Friendly NPCs to Skimp on Quest Rewards, Right?

[Game] [Assassin] [Almost Invincible]

Transmigrate once, then transmigrate again.

Yi Qing first transmigrates to a parallel world, where he is amazed to discover a fully immersive game that can be played by uploading one's consciousness. The very next moment, he transmigrates into the game world, becomes an NPC in a beginner village, and activates the System.

Fake NPCs:

They ramble on forever in their quest descriptions, are weak and helpless, need players to look after them constantly, and are garbage at the start and still garbage at the endgame. Even though the players are pathetically weak, these NPCs insist on sending them on absurdly difficult quests...

Real NPCs:

They have growth potential, completely outclass players in every stat, are immune to instant-death effects, boast enhanced resistances and heavy immunity to crowd control, have ridiculously huge health bars, regenerate health faster than players can deal damage, and fill the skies with forbidden AoE spells...

As an NPC, I can hand out quests. So it’s only reasonable to skim a little off the rewards, right?

I can earn experience by killing monsters, too. So it’s only reasonable to team up with players, steal the final blow, and get more experience, right?

What? You’re asking why you got nothing after completing the quest?

I killed all those monsters. It’s perfectly reasonable for me not to give you any rewards, isn’t it?

That day, the players were utterly crushed by the army of darkness, unable to put up the slightest resistance. Then a lone figure emerged from a human settlement.

Looking at the devastation all around him, Yi Qing smiled faintly.

“I’m about to step in. Watch closely and learn.”
