It begins with the Calamity of the Gods Investiture. The gods’ civil war grows ever more intense, until they finally discover that demons from beyond the realms are behind it. But by the time the gods realize the truth, it is already too late, and almost all of them have been wiped out.
The ancient sage Laozi takes the one that escaped as his focal point, seals the entire space of the ancient gods, and sends it to another dimension. At last, he merges with Li Feng, burrows into his sea of consciousness, and uses him as the anchor to summon the ancient gods back.
The return of the ancient gods brings about the spiritual qi revival. The revival of spiritual qi gives rise to demons and monsters.
In the past, when a person died, the light went out. Now, the dead become ghosts, animals turn into demons, and corpses become zombies. There are also demon cultivators, ghost cultivators, and devil cultivators. On top of that, Earth’s spiritual qi awakens like a beacon, drawing demons from beyond the realms in its wake. Humanity is pushed to the brink of life and death.
