Chinese on Wall Street

The main background of this book is the 2008 U. S. Financial crisis. It is divided into three volumes and describes in chronological order the major events on Wall Street in the past ten years from 2001 to 2009, including the 911 terrorist attacks, the economic depression caused by the bursting of the Internet bubble, the subsequent formation of a new bubble in the housing market, the struggles of established investment banks to save their own companies, the subsequent stock market panic, the U. S. Government's bailout, and the cold-blooded speculation of hedge funds before and after the collapse of housing prices. The protagonists are a group of Chinese intellectuals in the United States who were born in different eras and have different backgrounds. During this special historical period when the financial crisis was brewing, forming, breaking out, and delaying, their lives and destiny also experienced ups and downs. In addition to the above protagonists, the book also depicts about 100 people of various nationalities related to Wall Street, who together form a map of all living beings on Wall Street, showing their complex human nature hidden behind success and money. The author uses artistic techniques and the protagonist's story to show this financial crisis, known as the "Great Recession" by the world, that shocked every corner of the world. It depicts various aspects of life in special historical periods, the struggles of intellectuals of different ages studying in the United States, and the collision and inheritance of Chinese and Western cultures.
