Through the rich cases accumulated by the author over more than 30 years, this book points out that unknown shame is often hidden behind various psychological problems in various ways. In the past, people often regarded shame as a "destructive and harmful emotion." However, this book attempts to go beyond the inherent view and view shame as "a family of emotions containing painful self-awareness," including embarrassment, guilt, regret, self-consciousness and other emotions. These emotions help us realize our goals and values and understand who we aspire to be. When we feel shame, the author believes that we must be good at listening, learn to learn from experience, and develop psychological flexibility in order to better rebuild our self-confidence.

This book really resonated with me! It reminds me of a friend of mine who was always too ashamed to face her own needs. Dr. Burgo's perspective is illuminating, telling us that shame is normal and we should learn to understand and accept it. The cases and exercises in the book are also very practical and taught me many ways to deal with shame. I think this book is not only suitable for girls in love, but also for everyone who wants to improve their self-confidence and psychological flexibility. Highly recommended!
I feel lucky to be able to read this book, but I often can't bear to look directly at it. The shame of the past flashes in my mind. Time has passed, but sometimes I feel that I am trapped in the past. I am surrounded by noisy voices, but I feel isolated and out of place. But let it pass. I am still trapped now [face covering] [face covering] [face covering]
This book talks about what shame is, makes us realize shame, and some inappropriate measures we may take in the face of shame, as well as how to face shame, and the benefits of shame. It is highly recommended for some patients with mental illness and people who want to recognize themselves. This book helped me recognize myself better, which is very good
Help us to be more aware of the source of our own shame, tell us that the existence of shame is necessary and useful, dare to face our own shame, and promote ourselves to make progress
