Strategy, in ancient Chinese culture, is also called the art of vertical and horizontal, the art of long and short, and the art of hook and distance. In order to summarize historical experience, the famous scholar Mr. Nan Huaijin once gave a systematic lecture and analysis on ancient Chinese strategy. His lecture was titled "Historical Experience" and was published by Taiwan Laogu Culture Corporation in two volumes in 1985 and 1986. The first volume captures the essence of Zhao Rui's "Long and Short Classics", Liu Xiang's "Warring States Policy", and Huan Fan's "Shi Yao Lun", and discusses the ways of governing the world, employing people, preventing evil, and identifying traitors with reference to examples of success and failure in history. The second volume is a sentence-by-sentence exposition of "Su Shu", "Tai Gong's Art of War" and "Yin Fu Jing". "Su Shu" is called "Su Shu" and was passed down by Huang Shigong. Zhang Liang assisted Liu Bang, prospered the Han Dynasty and destroyed the Chu Dynasty. Many of his military strategies were aided by the book. After Zhang Liang, the book disappeared. In the Jin Dynasty, someone robbed Zhang Liang's tomb and found the book on the jade pillow, and it was passed down to the world again.
This book focuses on elucidating the meaning of the scriptures, and includes nearly 150 historical stories after the original scriptures, allowing readers to connect with history and understand the principles of starting a business and treating others. In 1990, with the authorization of the author and the original publishing unit, our society combined the two volumes of "Historical Experience" into one volume (part one and part two), and reorganized and published it under the name "Historical Wisdom" for research. It was reprinted under its original name in 1992.

This book is very interesting! Mr. Nan Huaijin explained ancient Chinese strategies thoroughly and used many historical stories to aid understanding, which was very beneficial. I especially liked his explanation of "Sushu", it felt like watching a wisecracking blockbuster. However, I kind of hate those traitors and villains. Fortunately, the book also teaches us how to identify them. Just like what is said in the book, "A virtuous minister is close to a virtuous minister, but a villain is far away from me." This sentence is so true! All in all, this is a book well worth reading.
