Devoted hero vs. clear-eyed heroine

At their grand wedding, Ye Xinran was jilted by the groom, Gu Shaoheng, her childhood sweetheart and boyfriend of fifteen years. After that, Gu Shaoheng only grew more despicable, targeting Ye Xinran at every turn. He stole her business, poached her clients, caused her father’s death, and framed her friend. Just as Ye Xinran’s hatred for him reached its peak, he suddenly appeared, utterly dejected, and asked her with red-rimmed eyes, “Ranran, what will it take for you to believe that I’ve never done anything to betray you?” Ye Xinran replied without hesitation, her voice full of fury: “You’d have to die!” Gu Shaoheng suddenly smiled and nodded bitterly. “All right!”

<Don’t let the synopsis scare you, dears. The story itself won’t be too angsty, and the hero isn’t really a jerk. He’s actually very devoted!>
