Liu Ying was born in the outskirts of M City, an imaginary, fantastical metropolis, in an area between the city and the countryside.
After spending his days lost in idle fantasies, feeling guilty about living off his parents, and listening to their entreaties, he finally left home to experience the outside world.
But on the way, he was hit by a truck from another world while crossing the road, and died.
To "compensate" Liu Ying, who had been reduced to a spirit, the driver gave him a letter to deliver to an old acquaintance in M City.
He was told that this person could help restore his body.
