I Want You by My Side

“A boy found his own rose in a desolate wilderness.”

“Question: What does it feel like when the person you have a crush on confesses to you?” One day, a post like this appeared on Weibo. One reply quickly went viral: “The moment the person I had a crush on confessed to me, he was all I could see. I just wanted to stay by his side forever.” What amazed netizens wasn't just the words, but the person who posted them. Her profile was filled with stories about her crush on a boy: every chance encounter, every accidental glance, every unintended touch. Every moment they met, every word in her diary, every secretly taken photo was proof of how much she liked him.

She would secretly watch him play basketball and ask her friends to take a “couple photo” of them. During his games, she would leave a bottle of water in his spot with the words “You can do it!” written on it. She would sneak a look through his Moments to see what he had eaten or where he had gone, then try everything herself. She kept her feelings hidden deep in her heart, but starlight still escaped from her eyes. Later, the blogger's newest post contained only one sentence:

“You said you wanted me by your side forever. What a coincidence, I want that too.”
