Wei, Qi, and Qin were the three countries that were most proficient in the art of war at that time. Qin's ability to stand out and become a unified country depended on the king's political planning, respect for the virtuous and corporal, and seizing opportunities. Wei Dynasty was defeated because of a cowardly king who misled the generals and listened to one side's beliefs, plus a bunch of arrogant generals who talked about war on paper. The failure was certain. Although Qi has a small victory, the king lacks the vision and strategy of a great nation, and time will eventually drag down the country's destiny. The Qin Dynasty planned and then acted, implemented domestic reforms, and sat on the mountain to watch the tigers fight. When its wings were full, it seized the opportunity to sweep the six countries and achieve unification.
I read this book decades ago. When I re-read it, I felt it was so bright before my eyes. History was repeating itself in my mind, and it was another scene. It was so insightful.
The writing style of this book is majestic and smooth, making people feel like they are in the ever-changing Warring States era. The characters have distinct personalities, and Qin Xiaogong's enterprising spirit and Shang Yang's firm persistence are both impressive. Their experiences showed the difficult process of Qin's rise, and also made me understand the importance of working hard for our dreams. Worth reading!

It took me a week to read the first, middle and second volumes, and I marveled at Qin Xiaogong's courage as a king and his wisdom in understanding and employing people; although his life was short, it was extremely splendid.
