A happy life is something you work for. Set against the global financial crisis of 2008, this is a heartwarming and inspiring story about laid-off workers starting businesses, growing through life's trials, and navigating family squabbles, romance, and kinship.
Because of her sister's caprice, Gong Zhu steps in at the last minute to take her place as a bride, entering a one-year marriage-of-convenience contract with her childhood friend Wu Haoda. After the company goes bankrupt, Wu Hao, a workshop supervisor, risks everything to pursue his dream and start a business. Bound together by family, love, and friendship, the two endure crushing economic, emotional, and psychological pressures. They face setbacks time and again and come close to breaking down, yet they stand by each other and press on, ultimately leading their fellow workers and the local villagers to prosperity. They shed their youthful awkwardness and grow into decisive, outstanding entrepreneurs. The fake spouses who once treated each other with icy politeness become true partners who would give their lives for one another.
Although my level of appreciation is not good enough, I know that after reading this novel, characters such as Wu Hao, Wu Yu, Gong Zhu, Gong Nan, Father Wu, Mother Wu, Father Gong, Mr. Lin, etc. Will have specific images in my mind, and they will definitely be preserved for a long time. That's enough. Good.
It's well written and touching!
