Four Piano Suites and Ballads

This work is a recent piano work created by composer Liu Dunnan. The work uses tonal twelve-tone creation techniques to skillfully integrate Chinese folk songs with contemporary technology. It has been performed many times in the United States, especially the performance at Carnegie Hall, which received a great response. There are four piano pieces in this book, which are modern piano works with Chinese music elements created by the author using modern music composition techniques. The inside of the music is excellent with an introduction and the author's creative techniques, performance tips and creative background. Liu Dunnan, a Chinese-American composer; born in Sichuan in 1940; entered the High School Affiliated to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music to compose in 1957; graduated from the composition department of the conservatory in 1966; joined the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra as a permanent composer in 1974, and also served as a teacher in the composition department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music; In 1983, he received funding from Mrs. Robert Downs III to further his studies in the United States. In 1987, he received a full scholarship from the Graduate School of the University of Chicago with excellent master's degree from Indiana University. He studied with composer and pianist Isri Blackwood and obtained his doctorate in 1993.
