The Midnight Hotel

Have you ever heard of a restaurant that serves no living customers?

A white funeral banner summons spirits from every direction.

Half a broken blade frightens off evil ghosts on all sides.

Three square plates, two cups: a crossing for lost souls who cannot return from the Yellow Springs.

A karma-stained knife and a cause-and-effect cauldron: the past fills the table as fare for the departed.

The yang energy of the living has run dry, and that of the dead has yet to rise. Clouds veil the moon, and the gates of hell swing open.

Mo Wei raised a finger to calculate the time. “The hour has come. Open the doors and welcome our guests.”
