Emperor Qianlong (Six Volumes in Total)

Maybe it's because Kangxi's writing was too exciting. I always felt that something was missing about Qianlong. Later I found out that it was because the Kangxi period was glorious, and the Qianlong dynasty as a whole showed signs of decline. As a person with a strong sense of national pride, it was inevitable that he was reluctant to face up to this period of history. Therefore, I felt that it was not as good as Kangxi, but overall it is still a novel worth reading.

The Ergyue River deeply embodies the creative concept of "using tragedy to create history and using art to recreate history" among Emperor Qianlong. The book writes that when Qianlong ascended the throne, what he took over from his emperor was a trembling and relatively honest bureaucracy. However, with the favor and rise of He Kun, the anti-corruption efforts made by the emperors of Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong have all become a bitter historical joke. In Qianlong's later years, his power even became a protective umbrella for He Kun and others. There is a place in the book where it is said that Qianlong's imperial chariot visited Yizheng in Jiangnan Province, and Fukang'an went to see him. He had been there twice before and was very familiar with Yizheng. When he got off the sedan chair, he was "stupefied". Why? Because it is completely unrecognizable - the silt in the moat has been completely cleared, the grass embankments have disappeared, and they have been replaced by large bluestone strips with undercover roofs, and guardrails have been added on the banks. At the same time, Hongli attached great importance to the selection and inspection of officials. During this period of time, the Qing Dynasty had a sound political system and a rapid economic development.

This book is as generous as the four great classics. The author has come from all over the world to read and write, and the writing is beautiful and makes you forget to read it.

However, in his later years, the princes fought with each other, and a prosperous dynasty also continued to decline. But from this book we learned about Qianlong's policy of decentralization and checks and balances, and about the intrigues between empires.

If I hadn't read the novel, I would have been fooled by the TV series about He Shen.

The literary quality of Er Yuehe's calligraphy is top-notch, especially the Six Books of Qianlong, which are a great improvement compared to his own Kangxi. They are indeed masterpieces and treasures. However, this person overly embellishes the Manchu and Qing Dynasties, magnifying the advantages of Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong, while often covering up their shortcomings through the Spring and Autumn writing style. It is easy for readers who do not understand history to have unrealistic illusions about the Manchu and Qing dynasties. This should be noted. From my personal point of view, February River glorifies the feudal emperors too much. This is inappropriate, especially for the Qing Dynasty, a dynasty where land annexation and literary inquisition reached their peak, regardless of whether it was for literary considerations or not.

The author's writing style is wonderful, and the road is full of twists and turns. I can't stop reading, it's excellent!

Qianlong's writing is not as good as Kangxi and Yongzheng's and is a bit unfinished. But it's much better than others.

Book friends who like to read about history should read Er Yuehe's masterpiece of Three Emperors of the Qing Dynasty. The author and I were of the same age, and I bought the first two sets as soon as the work came out, and the last one from a bookstore near the Shanghai train station. But they were all borrowed by family and friends and lost. It is a pity because they are all genuine books and can no longer be seen.
