The Beauty in the Painted Fan Skin: General, Don’t Be Afraid

[Strong female lead + one-on-one romance + angst]

After enduring nine years of hardship, the celebrated courtesan Ye Qingzhu was about to take the life of her enemy's son when a powerful and influential stranger abruptly interrupted her plans. She had no choice but to hide her talents and wait for another opportunity. To her surprise, this person had come to help her.

She thought her good days had finally arrived, only to witness her sworn sister skinned alive and hung from a roof beam, while her brother's skin was made into a fan. The ghosts of the Ye family's women were hidden away in an unnamed cave dwelling. On the eve of her wedding, the groom left for the battlefield under the emperor's orders. Ye Qingzhu of the General's Mansion was reduced to ashes in a great fire, and a frail, frequently ill Consort Mei appeared in the palace.

Years later, for the sake of the very country that had once hurt her so deeply, Ye Qingzhu donned armor and led the imperial army into battle. Her steadfast love with the Regent became a legendary romance for the ages.
