She hadn't expected Gu Yanlei to reply at once.
[I'm awake.]
[Are you home yet?]
[Still on the way. Probably another ten minutes or so before I get home.]
Fu Rexin stared at the chat, where the words “typing...” appeared above the conversation, repeatedly refreshing her phone screen with her finger.
Her phone chimed again. She checked it immediately and found a brief message.
[I'll wait for you.]
Fu Rexin's heart gave a sudden flutter, and she began to fumble nervously.
Gu Yanlei was actually waiting for her at home. Fu Rexin scratched her disheveled hair.
She nudged Xiaoya awake. Her companion had already dozed off beside her.
Xiaoya rubbed her eyes, thinking they had arrived. “Are we there?”
Instead, she got a very serious question in reply.
“How does my face look right now?”
“Has my makeup smudged?”
“Do these clothes look a little sloppy?”
Xiaoya held the back of her head, her mind still foggy. The barrage of questions left her completely baffled.
