His Reluctant Goodbye

The handsome young man was a cool, taciturn top student. Only Han Yiyi knew he wasn't really like that. “Zhang Baiyi! I've had enough!” Han Yiyi glared furiously at the silent, aloof man before her, her emotions exploding all at once. For the past few months, Zhang Baiyi had kept her in this villa, like a caged songbird, trapping her in this beautiful prison. They hadn't used to be like this. They'd been so happy before. How had things come to this? “I can make my own decisions. You can't interfere. Don't make me hate you!” Han Yiyi snapped. Zhang Baiyi seemed much calmer, but the menace around him grew ever stronger. “Han Yiyi, you hate me?” His gaze darkened as he stared intently at her. He practically ground the words out through clenched teeth. “I've told you, don't even think about leaving me.” “Zhang Baiyi, don't you think you're being selfish? This is kidnapping! I want to go back to school!” Han Yiyi's eyes blazed with anger. “Han Yiyi, don't forget who's keeping the Han family afloat.” After delivering his threat, Zhang Baiyi felt even worse. “Think carefully about what will happen if you keep fighting me.” He'd spent years trying to hide how possessive he was of her, but in the end, it all erupted. He knew she'd try to get away from him. A rose that longed for freedom could never stay in one place. But so what? He wouldn't let her go, not in this lifetime. [The story opens at university, with flashbacks to high school. The hero is a gentleman on the surface but a scoundrel underneath. He's seemingly harmless at first, keeping his true nature hidden until his possessiveness toward the heroine erupts later on.]
