After Being Married Off in Her Stead, My Cowherd Husband Became Chief Minister

Zhang Geng: “My sweet wife, we're inseparable now. Our love is as long as a river and as deep as the ocean. So let's hurry up and consummate our marriage!”

Ji Jiaohui: “Hold on! Everyone says men can't be trusted. If you want to take off your shoes and climb into bed, you'll have to kneel and swear an oath first!”

Zhang Geng promptly knelt. “I swear, if I ever betray my dear wife, may the heavens strike me with five bolts of lightning, and let them kill my father-in-law!”

Ji Jiaohui: “Get lost! Why don't you wish death on your own father?”

Zhang Geng: “My dear wife, my father has been dead for five years.”

Ji Jiaohui: “Then go sleep in the cowshed with your beloved Niu Niu, Xin Chou!”

Zhang Geng: “My dear wife, I was wrong. Let me start over: Sun, moon, and stars, bear witness. If I am unfaithful to my wife, Ji Jiaohui, may the gods strike me down with thunder!”

Ji Jiaohui: “Oh, that's a bit much! Husband, you swore such a heavy oath. It makes my heart ache for you!”
