Gucheng Middle School

Thanks to all the readers who came over from my other book. This was an early work from when I was young. I’d only just started writing novels, and didn’t know how to create conflict, so I drew on many memories from my youth. A lot of it really happened. There are no villains, just things that feel very real. How long has it been since you last read a pure school-life coming-of-age novel? When I wrote this, I was simply fulfilling a dream I’d had back in middle school.

This is a story about children from single-parent families growing up. They break free from the constraints of their respective families and grow together, becoming better versions of themselves.
