Words Left Unsaid

Before Wu Zetian ascends the throne, Xiao Xingyu, the eldest daughter of the Xiao family, one of the Four Great Families, encounters Yu Ruoyan, the eldest son of the Yu family, in an accident. By then, her three younger sisters have also reached marriageable age. But after an accident, Xiao Xingyu, whose bright eyes seem to have swept away half a lifetime of mist and rain, goes to war. She will lead troops into battle and save Yu Ruoyan. “I have to fight on the battlefield to keep you alive! Wait for me to come back!” When the peerlessly elegant Yu Ruoyan learns what has happened, he joins her on the battlefield. “Are you going back?” “I don't want to.” “Then fine. For the rest of our lives, I'll ride with you through a world of splendor and watch the blazing flowers bloom.” They exchange smiles, each beautiful enough to rival a kingdom... As Yu Ruoyan's illness worsens, he urgently needs shallow mugwort, a herb found only among the Xiongnu. So Xiao Xingyu ignores the men sent by the emperor to stop her and presses on. Though she wins the battle, the damned emperor listens to a villain's slander and orders her execution. “I am the greatest female general, and also the heroine Li Chou, hailed alongside Bie Xu as the greatest chivalrous woman under heaven. My master Feng Ying won the martial arts tournament before last and has since retired. My mother's family controls all the silk and clothing in Chang'an, my father is the Tang chancellor, my second sister is my deputy general, my third sister is the treasured daughter of the Tang family, one of the Four Great Families, and my fourth sister is the acknowledged next Valley Master of the world's greatest apothecary, Medicine Spirit Valley. Her master is the former regent! And you think you can sentence me?”
