Yao Lao's role is a bit limited.
From the current point of view, there are some changes in the plot. The fairy doctor becomes Xiao Yan's sister-in-law (the original work is Xiao Yan's confidante and thug), so there is no big problem. Xiao Yan still has connections by chance, but he has an extra wife (Nalan Yanran won't be able to have a master and apprentice...). How about replacing Mu Chen when he gets to Daqian? Why do you think Muchen is redundant? The Yunlan Sect is still going to perish, otherwise how would the original work go, where the protagonist leads the sect into seclusion, and then can find a little fairy doctor to give birth to a baby?
