My Lord Demon, Please Spare Me

In a backward village, there is a girl nobody wants. After she is born, her mother tries to kill her.

Before she became pregnant, the mother had nightmares every night. She dreamed of a strange creature, neither snake nor dragon, coiled around a baby girl... She would wake with a start in the middle of the night. Not long afterward, she discovered she was pregnant, and the child in her womb was a girl, just as in her dreams.

The couple tried to abort the child, but never succeeded. The village elders said she was ill-omened...

The village itself is even more unsettling. They say the Snake Immortal Temple hides an unspeakable secret. Do insects eat people? Is some ghostly thing at work? Or is it a demon...?
