Reborn to Save the Tormented Boy

1. Zhou Qingmeng wakes from a nightmare. In it, a raging fire burns Zhuang Xinghe to death. Amid the flames, the thin, gaunt man tearfully tells her, “I kept the promise I made back then. What about you, you little liar?”

Zhuang Xinghe, a computer genius, died by suicide at home a year ago. No one knew why. A psychologist later studied his life and concluded that his tragic childhood was to blame.

2. When Zhou Qingmeng was little, she lived next door to him. He was so thin and small that she often bullied him and made him do her homework. The two once made a promise beneath a mulberry tree: Zhuang Xinghe would become a scientist, and Zhou Qingmeng would always stay by his side. But after middle school, Zhou Qingmeng left her hometown to live in the provincial capital. They met again at a professor’s birthday party. By then, he was the center of everyone’s attention, and Zhou Qingmeng only dared to look at him from afar.

As she was leaving the party, he grabbed her and demanded to know why she had broken her promise. Seeing the obsession in his eyes, she panicked and ran away. Two days later, she heard the devastating news.

3. After his death, she was plagued by nightmares and could barely sleep even after waking. Would things have turned out differently if she hadn’t run away that day?

On the first anniversary of his death, Zhou Qingmeng fell asleep holding a photo of the two of them. When she woke up, she had returned to the year she was ten.

This time, she absolutely would not avoid him!
