Yu Wen is a wealthy young lady who has never wanted for anything, while An Yichen is an “orphan” who built his life from nothing.
An unexpected rear-end collision brings them together, and Yu Wen falls for this dashing, carefree man with his cold exterior.
Though moved by the blazing intensity of Yu Wen's love, An Yichen can't bring himself to respond because of an inherited family illness. He fears that, when his life comes to an end, Yu Wen will be left alone with their memories, consumed by grief. So An Yichen chooses to run away, hoping to stop their relationship before it begins. He believes that way Yu Wen might be able to live a happy life.
An Yichen silently watches over Yu Wen and helps her through one challenge after another, but she never understands the depth of his feelings. By the time Yu Wen learns the truth, it is too late to change how things unfold.
At the end of the story, Yu Wen slowly grows cold in An Yichen's arms. He desperately tries to remember the warmth of her body, because it is the last trace of warmth Yu Wen leaves behind.
