Are immortals those who preserve heavenly principles and extinguish human desires, without self or feeling?
Or are they those who live free and unfettered, doing whatever they please?
The pinnacle of humanity can lead to immortality; the pinnacle of the immortal path is Heaven, and the pinnacle of Heaven's path is humanity. Countless people cultivate the heavenly way through the human way, but how few cultivate the human way through the heavenly way?
Why was I born as Heaven? The joys and sorrows of all living things have nothing to do with me. Forty-six billion years of loneliness, with no one to confide in. After playing with all living things for so long, having no one to share it with has grown tiresome. I might as well become an ordinary person, abandon the heavenly way, and start cultivating anew.
Without me, Heaven, pulling the strings, how far can I go?
