Mr. Song's Days of Pretending to Be Lame

The first time Song Nanke saw Bai Xing, she was so overbearingly cool and flashy onstage that he was stunned. Then he silently watched her get beaten up, before grabbing her and demanding she pay for the broken glass. The second time he saw Bai Xing was seven years later, in a hospital, while she was recovering from a car accident.

"Who are you?"

"A debt collector."

With an oxygen tube in her nose, Bai Xing stared straight at Song Nanke, eyes rolled back until they showed only white. She had the unshakable air of someone who had no money to give but was ready to hand over her life instead, just like the girl who used to sing for tips in a bar.

Song Nanke picked up an apple and took a bite. "Tastes pretty good."

"Imported. A hundred yuan each. WeChat Pay or Alipay?"
