Bai Chongxi is the central figure of the New Guangxi faction of the Kuomintang, a first-level army general, a famous military strategist, and is known as "Little Zhuge". Bai Chongxi and Li Zongren cooperated for twenty years and ousted Chiang Kai-shek three times. In his early years, he and Li Zongren led their troops to the Northern Expedition, arrived at Shanhaiguan, and once established the "New Guangxi Empire" spanning four provinces. In 1930, the Guangxi clique retreated to Guangxi, and Bai Chongxi became a key figure in building a new Guangxi. After the Anti-Japanese War, he served as the Minister of Defense of the Kuomintang government. After the liberation of the mainland, he went to Taiwan, where he died of depression.
