On April 16, 1961, the drilling team obtained an industrial oil flow of 8.1 Tons per day for the first time in the Huaba Well near Dongying Village, Guangrao County, Shandong Province. On September 23, 1962, Well Ying 2 in Dongying District spewed out a high-yield oil flow, with a daily output of 555 tons of crude oil, becoming the oil well with the highest daily output in the country at that time. On January 25, 1964, the central government approved the North China Oil Exploration Campaign. As a result, the second oil exploration battle after the Daqing Oil Campaign officially began on the vast land of North China. In 1965, an 85-meter-thick oil layer was discovered, with a daily oil production of 1,134 tons. It was the first thousand-ton oil well in China. This is how the Shengli Oilfield got its name.
