On October 25, 1971, the 1976th session of the United Nations General Assembly voted on Resolution 2758, which restored all legal rights of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations and immediately expelled representatives of the Kuomintang group from the United Nations and all its affiliated agencies. The result of the vote was that the resolution passed the proposals of 23 countries including Albania and Algeria with an overwhelming majority of 76 votes in favor, 35 votes against, and 17 abstentions. On October 26, China's Acting Foreign Minister Ji Pengfei received a formal notification from United Nations Secretary-General U Thant that the People's Republic of China's seats in the United Nations and the Security Council that had been illegally deprived for more than 20 years had been restored.

This book is very informative and allowed me to understand the history of China's restoration of its seat in the United Nations. I like the part in the book about the wonderful performance of the Chinese delegation at the UN General Assembly. Their wisdom and firm stance are admirable. This book also gave me a deeper understanding of China's important role in international affairs, and I recommend it to friends who are interested in history and international relations.
