Arthur Conan Doyle was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, England in 1859. He attended a church school as a teenager, and later received a doctorate in medicine from the University of Edinburgh, and was knighted in 1902.
From the time he wrote "A Study in Scarlet" in 1886 until his death in 1930, he wrote more than 60 short stories and short stories with private detective Sherlock Holmes as the protagonist. When these novels were collected and published, they were titled "The Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes".

At the end of 1894, Conan Doyle let Holmes die in "The Final Case". Under the appeal of readers, he wrote "The Hound of the Baskervilles" in 1901.
