Mount Wutai is located in the northeast of Shanxi Province and is the northern end of the Taihang Mountains. It consists of a series of mountains and peaks. The mountains are majestic and continuous, spanning Wutai County, Fanzhi County, Dai County, Yuanping County and Dingxiang County in Xinzhou area, with a radius of 250 kilometers and a total area of 592 square kilometers. The top of Mount Wutai is flat and wide, "like a platform of earth", so it is called Wutai, and the tops of the five platforms are all above 2485 meters above sea level. The five peaks of Wutai Mountain are juxtaposed, just like five fingers half-folded, towering toward the sky. The highest altitude is 3,061 meters. It is known as the "Roof of North China".
