Jingchu Culture

Hubei is the birthplace of Chu culture. As one of the great and powerful countries in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Chu State has created splendid civilizational achievements in the long history. Hubei was also an important cultural center during the Qin and Han Dynasties. Hubei was the site of the Four Wars fiercely contested by the three kingdoms Wei, Shu, and Wu. The political, military, economic, and diplomatic alliances and struggles were thrilling. The overall characteristic of Hubei's local culture is a blend of north and south, but southern culture is the dominant one. Chu culture is the foundation of southern culture, and most of the various forms of Hubei characteristic culture develop against this background. Chu culture is named after the Chu people of the Chu State. It is a regional culture that emerged in the Zhou Dynasty and had a wide impact on Chinese culture. It lasted for more than 800 years and has always been with the Zhou Dynasty.
