Will the Empress Attend the Emperor Tonight?

In her previous life, she was willful and domineering. She led people in tormenting Chu Zhuxu, the hostage prince of Northern Chu. First, when she fell into the water, she falsely accused him of being responsible. Then she sent him nothing but scraps and cold leftovers for months. Later, she even sent a courtesan to his bed, humiliating him by saying that the Crown Prince of Northern Chu would never be worthy of anyone better than a woman from a brothel.

In this life, she keeps her head down and behaves herself, hoping only that the man who conquered the realm in her previous life will show mercy and spare Western Yao, so she can live in peace and happiness.

When she was eighteen, Chu Zhuxu left Western Yao. Two years later, his armies reached the capital, and he took her back to Northern Chu as his bride. For the next five years, aside from the title of empress, she was treated worse than a servant.

A cup of poisoned wine turned her into a ghost. Using her death as an excuse, the man marched west, killing her parents, humiliating her brothers, and slaughtering her people. At last, he had avenged the abuse he suffered in his youth.

But then... why was she being asked to marry him and become empress again? This isn't how the story is supposed to go.

“Your Majesty, it is your turn to attend the Emperor tonight.”

The empress, lying on her bed like a lazy fish, covered her ears. “...” I can't hear you!
