The original meaning of Chu Ci refers to the songs of the Chu region. Later, it gradually became fixed in two meanings: one is the genre of poetry, and the other is the name of the collection of poems (which also represents Chu literature to a certain extent). The creative technique of Chu Ci is romantic, with unrestrained emotions, strange imagination, and rich local characteristics and mythological color of Chu State. Compared with the simple four-character poems in the Book of Songs, the Chu Ci has a more lively sentence pattern, sometimes using the Chu dialect in the sentences. It is unique in rhythm and rhyme, and is more suitable for expressing rich and complex thoughts and feelings.
