Your book is very interesting. Will there be an exile army (meaning it is composed of surviving official forces. There will always be some surviving official forces after a meteorite impact)
It's pretty good. The main reason is that there are relatively few combatants. You can add 1 more point of combat in the later stage. Otherwise, if there are so many Zerg, the protagonist alone cannot solve it.

It looks good. Survivors can be kept for mining. I once read the Red Alert novel setting. Mine carts there can only be used to drill holes. Only survivors are used for mining. Use manuscripts.
