All of Žižek's books are ambitious, and this book can be seen as an example of his renewal of film studies by strengthening his theoretical ambitions. He uses the theories of Marx, Freud and Lacan to conduct a dazzling interpretation and mutual confirmation of Kiesnovsky's films. Like all of his books, The Horror of True Tears combines controversy and rigor, wit and insight. It makes us understand that there is no such thing as basic film analysis without theoretical insights - on the contrary, theory must be resurrected again and again through a true love of film.

His analysis is in-depth and his insights are unique. However, there were some characters in the book that I didn't like very much, I felt they were a bit too complex.
