The Road to Shu Is Hard

The protagonist’s father, a sword immortal, was killed by his fellow disciples at Mount Shu for breaking the sect rules by falling in love with a member of another race. After giving birth to the protagonist, his mother, a fox demon, gathered a host of demon beasts to attack Mount Shu in search of revenge. Orphaned from birth, the protagonist was adopted by Mount Shu through a twist of fate and gradually grew up there. Because of the demon-beast blood in his veins, he could not cultivate, and was always regarded as a good-for-nothing. The demon beasts imprisoned at Mount Shu used him to escape, abducting him and rebuilding their strength in preparation for revenge.

Caught between gratitude for the people of Mount Shu who had raised him and his parents’ deep-seated hatred, the protagonist struggled to choose a side. Meanwhile, all the forces of the human realm united to resist an invasion by another race. The protagonist became a key force among the demon beasts. After driving back their enemies, the demon beasts were finally set to face Mount Shu in a decisive battle. Torn by his conflicting emotions, the protagonist did not take part. The events of the past played out once more: the demon-beast race was utterly defeated. Witnessing the brutal battle with his own eyes, the protagonist felt the demon blood in his veins boil and joined the fight in a frenzy. After both righteous and evil factions were destroyed, the protagonist comprehended the Dao amid the slaughter and ascended to immortality.
