The story begins when Echizen Ryoma returns from America. The main plot follows the romance between Echizen Ryoma and Chikage Fuga. The first subplot pairs the stoic Tezuka Kunimitsu with the cool and sassy Terashima Honoka; the second pairs the scheming Fuji Shusuke with the adorable Atobe Keikage; and the third follows the big-hearted Momoshiro and the sweet Tachibana An.

When Echizen Ryoma was seven, he met a "boy" a year older than him and lost to him on the court, 6–0. From then on, Ryoma resolved that he would never lose and vowed to find and defeat him!

A few years later, when Ryoma saw him again, he discovered that he was actually a girl, and a breathtakingly beautiful one at that. This only made Ryoma even more unwilling to accept defeat!

Unfortunately, things ended just as regrettably: Ryoma challenged her again and lost once more, this time 6–2...

"She holds a prominent position in women's tennis, with skills on par with professional players. She's known as the Princess of Chikage!" That was Inui's highest praise for her.

"Damn it, there's no way I'll lose to you like this! Chikage Fuga, remember this: You'd better keep playing at this level until I beat you. I will defeat you!!!", Echizen Ryoma
