During the Republican era, Changsha in Hunan was ruled by the Nine Gates. The Upper Three Gates were the officials: the warlord, the opera singer, and the immortal trickster.
The Middle Three Gates were the thieves: the King of Hell, the reckless young master, and the Smiling Buddha.
The Lower Three Gates were the merchants: the beauty, the calculating strategist, and the master who could command the heavens over a chessboard.
The story begins when Mu Xiying, a modern-day agent, accidentally transmigrates back several decades to the Republican-era Old Nine Gates. There, she encounters Zhang Qishan, Adjutant Zhang, Er Yuehong, Qi Tiezui, Lu Jianxun, and others.
This story has a little Mary Sue content. Please don't read it if that's not your thing.
It's great. Is there a second part?
Although I can't say it's particularly good, it's still pretty.
Well written, so beautiful
It would be nice if the characters could be cut down a bit, after all, some of them feel like they were imposed.
