In a certain sense, Mr. Zheng believes that Sorel Julien does not like Mathilde, which is worth elaborating. It can be clearly seen that Julien was in agony for Mathilde, and his love was heartbreaking and life-and-death. Although it was undoubtedly mixed with ambition, pure love also showed a bit. 3. If Mr. Zheng considers this book to be a love novel, the theme should be from the perspective of criticizing feudal marriage. At this point, he can only cleverly believe that there are still "blanks" and "unfixed points" that Ingarten believes. In terms of love, Mrs. Renard mainly focuses on maternal love, while Mathilde is based on fantasy, which objectively reflects the blindness and purity of love. 4. It is this common people who dare to resist and are unwilling to flatter the nobles that attracts the admiration and love story of two "queens" with quite good status, even noble ones. The first is Mrs. Renard. As a reader, I love her kindness, sincerity, innocence and beauty. Her feelings for Lian are rare nowadays. Julien brought her a feeling of love and true love that she had never experienced before. Even if she died together with Julien in the end, she was happy. Through Renard's criticism of the money-transaction love in society at that time, women did not have the freedom to choose their own love, resulting in unhappy marriages. If Mathilde's love is surging, ever-changing, and passionate, then Mrs. Renard's love is gentle, equal, and continuous. The love between the two women is different. Mathilde's love is in line with the performance that a young girl should have at her age. "Love is like a blue sky and white clouds, a clear sky, and a sudden storm." She pursues exciting and perfect love. Although Mrs. Renard is a wife, she still has an innocent, romantic and beautiful heart. She has seen all kinds of life and believes that the happiest thing is to stay together until old age. Finally, I want to say that Julien's resistance, especially his speech in court, is his contempt for the landlord class. He is unwilling to be ordinary and has great ambitions. But he is also contradictory and hypocritical. On the one hand, he despises the nobility, but when he has to, he puts down his own pride, especially when pursuing Mathilde. The characters are full and three-dimensional. Every time I see them, it feels like I'm watching scenes of a play flashing before my eyes. This work is undoubtedly my favorite foreign masterpiece!
