Han Chu was Nanxi’s top courtesan, renowned for her stunning beauty and superb musical skills. She secretly pledged herself to Helian Qi, a nobleman’s son, but six months later he abandoned her and married the niece of the current empress. Heartbroken, Han Chu was then harmed by Miss Ming. She was rescued by Shen Yu, the son of the Marquis of Wenchang, but lost her voice and became mute.
Shen Yu had been in love with Han Chu for a long time. Taking this opportunity, he bought her freedom, hoping to win her heart. But Shen Yu’s concubine interfered, causing one misunderstanding after another between them. Grief and resentment consuming her, Han Chu threw the musical instruments Shen Yu had given her into a lake, where she happened upon a disabled gentleman dressed in white. He was Yun Ci, Shen Yu’s closest friend, born into the Yun family, the country’s wealthiest merchants, whose clan controlled many of the nation’s economic lifelines. Yun Ci suffered from a leg ailment, but was exceptionally gifted and learned. When he visited Shen Yu’s private residence, Shen Yu misunderstood Han Chu’s intentions and sent her to attend to Yun Ci.
Word quickly spread through the Yun household that Yun Ci had brought home a beautiful mute maid. This caught the attention of his mother, the Dowager Madam, as well as the covetous eye of his half-brother, Second Young Master Yun. Widowed for many years, the Dowager Madam ruled the Yun household. Seeing that Chuxiu was so beautiful she had sparked conflict between the Yun brothers, she began to consider driving her away. By then, Yun Ci realized he had fallen for Chuxiu and bravely confessed his feelings. The two made a pact, and before long Chuxiu was pregnant.
Yun Ci passed away, entrusting Chuxiu to his friend Shen Yu before he died. What trials and tribulations await this great beauty, whose life has already been filled with twists and turns?
It's good to read. I thought the male protagonist was Shen Yu, but Yun Ci appeared. I thought Chu Xiu and Yun Ci would be entangled for the rest of their lives, just like other novels. They were trapped in family fights and schemes, but the author's genius was to write Yun Ci to death. The male protagonist turned out to be Shen Yu, whom I had despised at first. The female protagonist and Shen Yu helped each other and grew up together. Looking back after watching the ending, it really felt like they were in another world.
The author's writing style is exquisite, and the description of the characters' emotions is so exquisite that it makes people shed tears. The heroine has a life of extraordinary splendor, but her fate is unparalleled, and her appearance also brings her endless sadness and tears. Although the first half of her life was rough and lonely, she finally got married with a lover. Genus, a word of love, allows people to taste all the sweet, bitter, spicy and salty flavors in the world. Love is separated, love is hard to hold on to, can't let go, and can't bear to leave. Only the person involved can understand the taste. There is no love or hate. In the midst of love and desire, people live and die alone. They go and come alone, and they deserve their own pain and joy.
I read this book several years ago and read that Yun Ci passed away. I felt very sad. I always felt that it was his own fault and he would be resurrected one day. Unfortunately, I had not finished the book before. I always regretted it, but I didn't want to. I found it again a few years later. When I read about Yun Ci's death again, I felt completely different from the state of mind I had before. I just lamented that the world has passed away and the living are like this. The dead are gone, but the living are like this. May heaven and earth be well together.
The plot is full of ups and downs, why should Yun Ci be written to death? It's a pity that such a wise, far-sighted, brilliant and immortal man, and such a long-term lover like Nie Peixiao should not be let down.
As an old bookworm, I was deeply attracted by this book, couldn't put it down, and was filled with emotion. The author's skills are profound and there is no nonsense, and the emotional portrayal is delicate and meticulous, making people cry. Good words are hard to praise👍👍👍👍👍👍 I finished listening to it in 8 days. It is a good book that I don't want to sleep, eat, or miss a sentence. I am eager to read it word by word.
I want to describe how good this book is, but I don't have any ink! I can only give it five stars. I really like Yun Ci and Mrs. Tai! I love the character of Mrs. Tai so much! Without her, this book would have to write the fourth chapter.
The writing is very good, there is no nonsense, the storyline is very attractive, and the love between a woman and three men is very sincere. Each character has a distinct personality. It's a good ancient romance. I recommend it. It's good.
It looks good, it would be even better if Yun Ci didn't consummate her marriage with Xia Yanran. Actually, I think the Ninth Prince is a better match.
It was so well written that I felt so sad when I saw Yun Ci's death. He was such a good person and had gone through so many hardships. I always thought that he would slowly get better and be with the heroine for the rest of his life.
The emotion is delicate and touching, and the ending is a small perfection among the shortcomings.
