Liao Daonan was a Hanlin scholar of the Ming Dynasty, a teacher of Emperor Jiajing, and a close minister of the imperial court.
He assisted the emperor in abolishing the old system, consolidating the court, guarding the frontiers, and supporting the world. He was a hero of the "Jiajing Zhongxing";
People at that time praised him as the "uncrowned prime minister".
