Beggars

The characters in this book have distinct personalities and rich experiences. The protagonist Xin Buhui was originally a powerful figure, but for some reasons he chose to return to ordinary life. However, reality did not allow him to do so. This reminds me of Xiao Ma in "A Better Tomorrow". He was also a once glorious figure who had to bounce back when faced with difficulties. Moreover, the description of earthquake scenes in the book is very realistic and makes people feel the same. Overall, this book is well worth reading.
