On July 7, 1937, the sound of artillery fire at Marco Polo Bridge pushed the land of China into the abyss of blood and fire.
The long-planned Japanese invaders launched a full-scale war of aggression against China.
During the battle to defend Pingjin, a certain cavalry unit of the 29th Army, led by its battalion commander Guan Zhenhai, fought bravely against the enemy. The remnants of the cavalry that finally fled were forced to become "rebels" and fled into the mountains and forests during repeated misfortunes during the retreat to Baoding.
At the most difficult and dangerous time, they received help from Xiao Mei, secretary of the Longshan County Party Committee of the Communist underground organization, and jointly acted with the anti-Japanese guerrillas led by the Communist Party. They fought one earth-shaking battle after another in Longshan, and finally established a solid anti-Japanese base in Longshan.
