This is a novel about the famous hero Wu Erlang from history.
The story comes from a thick, old-fashioned thread-bound book, its pages yellowed with age.
It tells the legendary true story of Wu Erlang, a hero from Qinghe County in Dongping Prefecture during the late Northern Song Dynasty.
Wu Erlang was originally a petty village thug from Wujia Slope in Qinghe County. By sheer chance and an unlikely turn of events, he became a tiger-slaying hero and rose to fame. Through another twist of fate, he entered the county government, serving as a constable and county commandant before becoming the head of the county yamen's runners. In just a few short years, he became a celebrated figure in Qinghe County. Later, however, he was framed and lost his family and home. Alone, he fled to Liangshan and joined the rebel uprising.
