Everyone knows that Si Qinian, the Eastern Depot's chief eunuch, wears a silver mask and a blue robe with a jade belt, and wields power over all under heaven.
Jin Yuan, the young empress dowager of the Yue Dynasty, burst into tears when she saw Si Qinian.
Si Qinian gave her a faintly amused look. “Your Majesty, am I that scary?”
Jin Yuan shook her head timidly. “Not at all. I just got sand in my eyes.”

The Jin family threatens Jin Yuan, demanding that she interfere in court affairs and control the emperor.
Jin Yuan runs to Si Qinian in tears to tattle: “Chief Eunuch, my father wants me to usurp the throne. I can't do it!”
Looking at the young empress dowager's pitiful, aggrieved expression, Si Qinian says, “Your Majesty, come to my Eastern Depot and be its leading beauty. Leave the usurping to me.”
Jin Yuan: ???
You're a eunuch. You want to be emperor?

The Yue Dynasty is invaded, and enemy forces surround the Eastern Depot.
Terrified, Jin Yuan hides under the covers, trembling. Outside, the guards shout in unison, “We greet Her Majesty the Empress! Long live the Empress!”
Jin Yuan cautiously peeks out from under the covers and sees Si Qinian standing in the doorway, dressed in a bright yellow dragon robe.
“Your Majesty, I've come to take you with me.”
She stares at him in shock. “Y-you've come to take me where?”
Si Qinian: “To control the emperor.”
Jin Yuan: ???
