It all began when I had to fill out my internship preferences at university. I wanted to go to one of the big cities in the north, but so many people had applied that my adviser told me to fill out the form again. A thought flashed through my mind: “Paradise above, Suzhou and Hangzhou below.” So I chose Suzhou.
I never imagined that a spur-of-the-moment choice would bind me for life to this little city of gardens, pavilions, and towers...
That summer, I met the man who would leave an indelible mark on my life, someone I could never forget. And so it went, from sweetness to bitterness, until I could honor both fate and the one I loved.
