The Fox King’s Edict

In the spring of the thirteenth year of the Zhengtong era, Ming Zheng, daughter of Li Hanjiang, a disgraced former Minister of Works, sets out for the capital after spending six years stranded far from home. On the journey, she faces one peril after another and is drawn into a conflict in the martial world. The cause is a strange book she happened to acquire, Records of Tianmen Mountain. Once owned by the powerful eunuch Wang Zhen, the book details the most treasured possessions of various schools, including the fox clan’s heirlooms, and serves as a treasure map for Wang Zhen’s plundering. Wang Zhen orders the Eastern Depot and the Embroidered Uniform Guard to search for the treasures described in the book, dragging many sects and clans into the affair. The fox clan is nearly wiped out. Seeking revenge, the fox clan issues the Fox King’s Decree, calling on the realm to root out traitors and punish evil. Xiao Tian, fox king of Fox Mountain, conceals his identity by posing as the leader of the Xinglong Gang. To avenge his clan, he infiltrates the capital and joins forces with heroes from across the martial world to wage a desperate struggle against Wang Zhen and the eunuch faction. Just as the various sects are plotting to assassinate Wang Zhen, the Oirat invade. Defying his ministers’ objections, Wang Zhen manipulates the emperor into leading a punitive expedition, resulting in a crushing defeat at Tumu Fortress. The emperor is captured, and the Ming army loses its finest troops. At this critical moment, Yu Qian steps forward. Xiao Tian and the other heroes set aside their martial-world feuds and fight alongside Yu Qian, defeating the Oirat and defending Beijing.
