Leonardo Vetra, a devout believer in God and a distinguished scientist at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, dedicates his life to proving God’s existence through science. In the laboratory, he and his adopted daughter, the mysterious and alluring scientist Vittoria, succeed in creating a powerful form of energy: antimatter.
Before this groundbreaking discovery can be announced, Leonardo is murdered in his lab. One of his eyes has been gouged out, and a mysterious symbol is branded on his chest: the Illuminati! Even more shocking, the antimatter stored underground has vanished. Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is invited by the head of the European Organization for Nuclear Research to investigate the mysterious symbol. On the very day he arrives, the missing antimatter is discovered somewhere beneath Vatican City. Once removed from the laboratory, the antimatter will explode on its own within twenty-four hours. It is the day of the papal conclave, and Catholic leaders from around the world have gathered in Vatican City. The antimatter hidden underground is a ticking time bomb. If it is not found in time, Vatican City will be wiped off the face of the earth in an instant.
With time running out, Langdon and Vittoria set off on an adventure to Vatican City…
Although it is a combination of popular and serious novels, it generally prefers serious novels. It may not be emotionally engaging because of the translation, but the plot is compact and the content is rich. Overall, it is very good.
I read the original book three times after I bought it, then lost it. I read it here again this time. Every time I read the beginning, I couldn't stop. The plot was so attractive and the sense of immersion was so strong that I was deeply immersed in it. I didn't know whether it was a novel or a real thing. In short, it was super exciting!
The plot of the story is up and down again, with tight logic and yet no loss of suspense.
No paragraph is redundant, and there is no boring feeling when reading it. It's really great!
