The Shadow Guard Chief's Full-Time Job: Raising Kids

Yan Yi was reborn in a time before her master had passed away. On her master's orders, she took the young master and fled to safety. While preparing to leave trouble behind and live under assumed names, Yan Yi also happened upon a boy who had been beaten nearly to death. Just like that, she was forced into raising children, and ended up with two of them.

Once the three of them had settled into farm life, the young master's birth father showed up and had them all taken to the frontier. Yan Yi was forced into military life, and along the way she learned by chance that the boy she'd rescued was the illegitimate son of a general from a neighboring kingdom... Even more unexpectedly, the black lotus swaying in the wind had fallen for her after she put him through the wringer. Oh boy, Yan Yi thought, this had gotten out of hand.

Her life grew more and more colorful.

Secondary plot: When she was young, Princess Consort Jin loved a dashing Great Feng general. After they secretly conceived a child together, her parents forced her to marry Prince Jin without her knowledge. Prince Jin was a scheming little man who knew only how to seize power, with no real talent for political intrigue.

To keep her family from being dragged down by Prince Jin, she had him killed. She thought she'd spend the rest of her life alone, watching her beloved general marry and have children. But then the general rebelled.

She was forced to become the beauty who brought down a kingdom.
